About Me

When I first started this blog, I thought it would be a great way to share my healthy recipes and tips and chronicle my adventures in cooking healthy meals that my husband would enjoy. Just as a quick aside – ALL of the recipes on this blog are “husband approved” – so even though they’re healthy, “normal” people like them too! But over the past year I’ve felt more of a pull to make my blog more personal – I’ve met so many cool people because of my blog – I wanted to share a little more with everyone! So think of this as more of a lifestyle blog or a food journal with a focus on health.

So about me 🙂 Other than being a “picky eater,” who am I? I am…

A wife and California girl – I have an amazing, supportive husband and we live in the San Francisco Bay Area (where I grew up!). The picture below is of the two of us in Porto, Portugal – a beautiful city that actually has a San Francisco vibe to it!

I’m a home chef with no formal training, but I LOVE food. This was one of the first dishes I made – healthy veggie enchiladas. I was excited when they were done 🙂

I also love wine 🙂

I’m a traveler, explorer, and an adventurer. I love going to places I’ve never been before, hiking, and all sorts of outdoorsy activities. Below are a pictures from a few of our travels!

Above is the view at the top of Iguazu Falls. Isn’t it gorgeous? Needless to say, I was really excited to be there…

Other beautiful hikes we’ve been on – Cinque Terre in Italy…

And Chianti in Tuscany. Doesn’t that path look like something out of a mystical land?

And here’s the adventure side of me – hang gliding in Rio… one of the greatest experiences and the biggest adrenaline rush ever!

And holding a python in the heart of the Amazon. Yes, it was slimy and heavy and sort of choking me, but it was a super cool experience!

I’m a dancer, and I love all forms of artistic expression. (This is us dancing at our wedding – one of the funnest times of my life)

And I am of course, a foodie and a blogger. I love connecting with fellow foodies or people who are interested in learning more about the world of healthy living and flavorful eating. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments or feedback. I’d love to hear from you!

    Hi Picky eater,

Me too! I am so picky and very health conscious person…. well in my later years is when I really became a particularly picky eater. If I eat out then the food needs to be prepared just the way I like it…I mean love it. Two reasons… its my health and my taste buds that I need to please. Restaurants need to get a clue on how to keep customers happy and coming back… so many restaurants serve unhealthy food.
    Okay enough of that..

Thank you for your Blog and I’m so glad I’ve found it.

    Cheers,
    Mindy : )

Thanks so much for your note! I totally agree with you – it’s always a challenge to find healthy flavorful at restaurants – I’ve started eating at higher end places because they will usually have healthy options on the menu or will tailor the items to my preferences 🙂 Please do keep in touch and let me know if you come across any good, healthy recipes I can include on my blog!

  2. Hi again. I was just reading through some of your recipes with my husband and we were like, “gotta try that, and that, and oohh, that one too” Such good stuff without a lot of fancy, expensive ingredients, just healthy and simple. Thanks. I’m trying to find creative ways to use up the 12 cups (!) of rice I accidentally made tonight.

  3. That quote from ‘When Harry Met Sally’ made me laugh out loud. I’m with you on being a little picky. Like your blog. I look forward to reading more of your posts. Cheers!

  15. Hi Anjali, wow it looks like you’re definitely an adventure seeker. I personally wouldn’t go near a snake let alone put one around my neck but I give you dibs girl. You Go girl. I see that you went to Chianti in Tuscany, nice. My family and I went to that region a couple years on a wine tour and loved it. It was pleasant and relaxing. I love your setup.
